The report of the test weekend with SVA Imports.
On the first day we worked on the alligment and weight balance of the car at Lammert van der Meulen (
www.uitlijnspecialist.nl) We were able to make big improvements on the allignment of the car and the weight balance. We expect much less understeer and better balance under braking.
We started the day with lap times if 2:08 in the first session, which we managed to bring it down to a new personal record of 1:58 in the last session. The old record (driven on the Superlap Festival) was 2:00. I think this is a very big improvement, even more if you take into account that it was driven on a track day with a lot of traffic and a lot of oil in the Tarzan corner. I think lap times of 1:57 or even 1:56 or realistic, in the final round the car will be on full slicks, so it will be even faster than that.
We started the day with getting the ideal driving lines right. Neill (the driver) was picking it up quiet good so in the second session we could focus on little improvements of the driving lines and getting the braking spots right. To get the braking spots right turned out to be a bit of a struggle to get it right in combination with the sequential gearbox.
After giving at I thought on the paddock we went for the third session, and Neill did a good job again working on the braking spots which became better and better. So we also could make a start working on the exits of the corners (the moment to go on throttle). We made good progress in this session.
In the fifth session, we started working on where we left in the last session, and Neill managed the improve the braking spots, lines and the exits each round. I could notice that Neill got more and more confident with the car and the balance of the car is quit good. Also the under steer where the car struggled with, is almost cone as a result of the adjustments made on the alignment.
In the last session Neill even made more progress and it was a real joy for me to be his passenger. Oh man the car is a real rocket, unbelievable! In comparison my Audi is just a shopping car. Halfway the session Neill dropped me off in the pit lane to do the last laps on his own and he even stepped harder on it, resulting in a lap time of 1:58.
So the day was a big success for us all, and a very good step for the future (moving up to the Pro Class). It is a real honor for us to work together with our friends from SVA Imports. We are sure the cooperation between our teams will be continued in the future!
Onboard movies and pictures will follow.
